Welcome to the Fifth Annual Holiday Gift Card Auction!

Monday, November 23 at noon to Sunday, November 29 at 9 p.m

Sootoday+ members receive early access to Buy Now deals on Mon, Nov 23. The auction opens to the public on Tues, Nov 24 at noon.

Please READ THE RULES, particularly the part about credit card authorizations. In short, each time you place a bid, the system places a hold authorization for that amount on your card. When you are outbid, the hold is released. If you bid $50 on ten different items, this means $500 of your available balance will be unavailable until you're outbid. Any winning bids at the end of the auction are captured - meaning your card is charged. Buy Now items will be charged to your credit card at the time of purchase. We recommend you use a credit card, not a debit card for this auction. A released hold may take several days to reflect on your statement.

What happens if I win?
After the auction closes, it may take us a few days to process the results. If you have won an item, you will receive a confirmation email, which will contain pick up instructions. For any auction related questions, please email auctions@sootoday.com

About Northern Superior Brewing Co

During the 1880's, J.J. Doran owned a hotel in North Bay. He, along with the Doran, Mackey and Fee families began to brew beer in 1907. The families built a brewery in Sudbury and named it the Sudbury Brewing and Malting Company. Four years later they bought out the Soo Falls Brewing Company (est. 1899) out of Sault Ste Marie. In 1913 they also purchased the Kakabeka Falls Brewing Company (est. 1906) in Fort William.

On August 31, 1971 the company was purchased by Canadian Breweries, although it continued to operate under the name Doran's Northern Breweries. In July 1977, the Doran's employees purchased the company back from Canadian Breweries, and Northern became the first employee-owned brewing cooperative in North America.

In 1979, the brewery began marketing its beers in Southern Ontario as well. In 2004, the company was purchased by an investment group led by Leo Schotte. Schotte hired a veteran of the brewery business in Canada, William Sharpe, as president. In 2005, the company announced a major rebranding effort, retiring many of its old products in favour of more modern brews and brand identities.

In June 2006, Sharpe appeared before Sault Ste. Marie city council and by December the company ceased production at the Sudbury facility.

In March of 2015, four local investors with a great interest in keeping Sault Ste. Marie history alive, began the development of the Northern Superior Brewing Company.

Once again, Northern Superior Lager will flow again in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario!
