Ontario Premier Doug Ford says a new partnership between the province, Apple and Rogers will see more than 21,000 iPads deployed to students in low income families across Ontario.
The devices will come with free wireless data and pre-loaded learning materials so that students can access the province's learn-at-home online portal.
Ford also announced that Ontario issued an emergency order last night that will extend free emergency childcare to essential workers with group homes, shelters, RCMP, Canada Post and Canadian border security staff.
Premier Doug Ford holds a press conference today at 1 p.m. from Queen's Park in Toronto.
He will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education, and Dr. Merrilee Fullerton, Minister of Long-Term Care, to make an announcement.
The press conference will be streamed live on Ford's YouTube channel, and Village Media will carry the livestream feed.
