WATCH: 'Extremely troubling' military report on conditions in Ontario long-term homes forthcoming: Trudeau

Premier Doug Ford expected to release some details on report Tuesday

12:22 p.m. update:

The prime minister announced Tuesday that the federal government has signed a contract with General Motors to produce 10 million facemasks, while a partnership between manufacturer Vexos and Canadian astrophysicist Art McDonald will see 10,000 low-cost ventilators produced.

Trudeau also announced that Ottawa will fund up 700 youth jobs in the farming sector this summer, but offered few details on how that funding will be rolled out.

"That will help out those who feed our families, while at the same time creating opportunites for students this summer," Trudeau said.

Update:

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says a "shocking" report on conditions of long-term care homes in Ontario from the Canadian Armed Forces will be revealed by Ontario Premier Doug Ford Tuesday.

"It is deeply disturbing," "There are things in there that are extremely troubling. We need to take action, and I spoke with the premier this morning to assure him that of course the federal government will be there to support them as they deal with this situation."

"We need to do a better job of taking care of our elders in long-term care facilities in Ontario, and indeed, right across the country. The premier will be sharing this report with Canadians in the coming hours, and will be speaking at more length on it."
