10 bands, 10 hours, good cause at Toystock (5 photos)

Admission to event at Northern Grand Gardens was by donation of toys, non-perishable food for Christmas Cheer

Families enjoyed live entertainment at the seventh annual Toystock event, held Sunday at Northern Grand Gardens at 1324 Great Northern Rd.

The event consisted of 10 bands over 10 hours, each band taking an hour on stage, beginning at 12 p.m. Sunday, the last band taking to the stage at 9 p.m.

Admission was by donation of a new or gently used toy, a non-perishable food item or monetary donation, all going to Christmas Cheer.

Food from a child-friendly Northern Grand Gardens menu was available for purchase at the Toystock event.

“We’re introducing the next generation to live music. Northern Grand Gardens has volunteered their space, it’s all free entertainment provided by local musicians, varying bands of varying ages, everything goes to Christmas Cheer, and at the end of tonight we’re going to stuff a bus and take it to the depot straight away,” said Kerry Simpson, who with husband Greg owns Maxx Entertainment, and organizes Toystock annually.

Toystock 2018 bands included:

  • The Bearded Lounge
  • Jeff & Friends
  • Wyld Stallyns
  • Case's Music
  • Algorythms
  • Brendan Hodgson
  • Chunks of Mahn
  • Obsession
  • Soundcheck
