Rock 4 Autism, equipment (6 photos)

The Algoma Autism Foundation first 'Rock 4 Autism' raised money for the Sensory Lending Library

The Algoma Autism Foundation held their first 'Rock 4 Autism' event at The Canadian Motor Hotel on Saturday.

Event ticket sales raised money to replace aging toys and equipment at the group’s Sensory Lending Library at Mount St. Joseph College.

The library is often used by families that want to try out sensory equipment for children on the autism spectrum.

Often times parents of children with autism are suggested equipment by their doctor.

The library’s equipment helps with a range autism related issues like stimming, self-regulation, gross and fine motor skills, communication skills and more.

If a parent finds their child won't or can't use a piece of equipment they can just return it to the library and they aren’t out an expensive sum.

The group expects the Rock 4 Autism will raise about $1,000.

The Sensory Lending Library is actually looking for a new home that is more accessible to the public.

Their current location is up three flights of stairs.

They’re asking anyone with a safe and accessible free space anywhere in the city to contact them via Facebook.

Bone Yard, Redundant and Three Day Millionaires were the bands that played the event.
