APH reporting two new COVID cases in Algoma

APH is also advising anyone who travelled on a pair of recent flights to contact their local health unit

Algoma Public Health is reporting two new COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region.

Both cases are in the Sault Ste. Marie area and bring the total number of COVID cases in the region since the start of the pandemic to 203.

Case No. 202 is related to international travel and was tested on March 10.

Case No. 203, tested on March 11, falls under the exposure category of unknown, meaning the individual did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case

Both are currently self isolating.

APH is also advising anyone that travelled on two recent flights should contact their local health unit.

The flights, both on March 9, include:

  • Air India flight AI 1102 from Ahmedabad to New Dehli, passengers in rows 1-7 and flight crew that may have served these rows are considered close contacts.
  • Air India flight AI 187 from New Dehli to Toronto, passengers in rows C36 – C42 and flight crew that may have served these rows are considered close contacts.

There are currently six active cases in the Algoma region with two being non-Algoma residents who are temporarily in the region.
