Students at École secondaire Notre-Dame-des-Grands-Lacs in Sault Ste. Marie transformed a portion of their school into a haunted house from October 28 to 31.
In the four-day run-up to Halloween, local children and adults were invited to explore this animated setting and experience Halloween chills and thrills.
Guided tours offered in French to students and in French or English to visitors from the community raised goose bumps in both of Canada’s official languages.
The haunted house project was made possible by an organization and animation group consisting of 20 Grade 9 to 11 students, who donated as a group no less than 550 volunteer hours from September 22 to the day of Halloween on October 31.
Some 250 children of all ages walked through the scary – yet friendly – haunted house.
Visitors included Notre-Dame-des-Grands-Lacs students and staff, Grades 5 to 8 students from École Notre-Dame-du-Sault and friends from throughout the community.
The activity also enabled the students to fundraise $615.86 to support the É.S. Notre-Dame-des-Grands-Lacs “Relay for Life” team.
