Canadian students - Come meet Lake Superior State University
SAULT STE. MARIE, MI - Lake Superior State University representatives will hit the road in the coming weeks for a program called "Meet LSSU Night," where campus representatives visit various locations to give prospective students a chance to find out more about the university and what it's like to be a student.
The first stop on the program's list is just a short hop from campus - Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. - for a special program geared to Canadian students at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Great Northern Hotel and Conference Centre.
"Meet LSSU" gives prospective students an opportunity to find out more about the university before making any decisions on which university they should attend.
"Fit is an important factor when choosing a college," says Allan Case, assistant director of Admissions at LSSU. "Knowing if you would feel more comfortable at a small or large college campus can help in the decision process."
The program goes into detail about the admittance process, financial aid, scholarships and bursaries, academic programs, and student life at LSSU.
Admissions representatives talk about what new things are happening in the academic programs at LSSU and they bring along current students to help prospective students understand what LSSU has to offer.
After each program, there is a small reception where prospective students may get acquainted with the students and Admissions staff and ask more questions.
"LSSU has a lot to offer prospective students. This program allows us to go to people who may not be able to travel all the way to campus, and by going to larger cities, we can draw in more prospective students and give them a better idea of who and what Lake Superior State University is," Case said. "A lot of our Canadian friends may be familiar with us, but this is a way to get to know us better."
Besides Ontario, "Meet LSSU" nights will be held in the following cities.
All programs begin at 7 p.m.
- Nov. 12, Otsego Club and Resort, Gaylord
- Nov. 16, Holiday Inn, Midland
- Nov. 17, Concorde Inn, Clinton Township
- Nov. 18, Kensington Court, Ann Arbor
- Nov. 19, Days Hotel, Grand Rapids
