LAKE SUPERIOR
STATE UNIVERSITY

**************************
Lake Superior State University Professor Emeritus Russell Bruce congratulates Heather Hemming for receiving his namesake scholarship that recognizes and rewards exceptional athletic training, exercise science, parks and recreation, and sport and recreation management majors in their junior year.

Hemming is a senior from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, majoring in exercise science with an emphasis on health fitness specialist certification.

Her career goal is to become a strength and conditioning coach.

Russell Bruce came from Northern Michigan University in 1976 to start Lake State's parks and recreation studies program, becoming its first department head.

Scholarship winners are selected on the merits of academics, leadership, and service contribution to the Recreation, Athletic Training, or Exercise Science Professional clubs.

For information about the more than 100 scholarships and awards available at LSSU, call the LSSU Foundation office at 906-635-2665, or go to www.lssu.edu/foundation.

Run a web search for "exercise science" for more on the LSSU program.
