Just days after teammate Nick Cousins was named the Ontario Hockey League Player of the Month for January, Ryan Sproul was named OHL Player of the Week late this afternoon.

Sproul had six points in two games last week for the Greyhounds to earn the honour.

Sproul opened the week with a five-point performance (two goals, three assists) in a 6-5 comeback win over the Plymouth Whalers in Plymouth on Friday night. With the Greyhounds trailing 2-0, Sproul scored midway through the opening period to get the Greyhounds on the board and eventually assisted on the game-winner after his point shot was deflected in by Andrew Fritsch late in the third period.

On Saturday night Sproul scored in the third period to help the Greyhounds erase a 3-0 deficit in a 5-4 shootout win over the Saginaw Spirit in Saginaw.

Sproul, a Detroit Red Wings draft pick, is tied for first in OHL scoring amongst defencemen with 47 points (17 goals) in 34 games.

Belleville Bulls forward Alan Quine (nine points in three games), Sarnia Sting defenceman Anthony DeAngelo (seven points in three games) and Brampton Battalion goaltender Matej Machovsky (2-0-0-1, 1.30 GAA, .953 Save percentage) also received consideration for the honour.
