The Soo Junior Black Sox had a solid weekend of action against the Timmins Whiskey Jacks, picking up a pair of wins on Saturday to move one game over .500 in the Northern Elite League standings.

Saturday saw the Juniors pick up two solid pitching performances along with timely hitting as they swept the Whiskey Jacks by 10-0 and 12-2 scores.

In game one, the Sox shut out Timmins 10-0 as a strong pitching performance helped the Sox to the win. Andre Robideaux scattered four hits and struck out ten hitters for the win.

Offensively the Sox were led by Tyler Belanger, Robideaux and Cole Smalec.

Belanger picked up four singles in the win while Robideaux hit two doubles and picked up three runs batted in. Smalec doubled and added a homerun to go along with his four RBI's in the game.

The Sox found themselves in a similar position in game two. Ben Myers was strong on the mound and key performances at the plate from Dan O'Connor, Smalec and Jeff Leonard led the Sox to a 12-2 victory.

Myers gave up just three hits and struck out nine batters for the win.

At the plate, O'Connor chipped in with a single and a double along with four RBI's. Smalec doubled and added his second homer in as many games to go with the four runs he knocked in. Leonard added a single and double in the win.

The Sox will now take their 4-3 record into a NEL weekend doubleheader with the front running Sudbury Lakers on Saturday afternoon. The action will kick off with the first pitch in game one scheduled for noon on Saturday.
