Wolves Re-Acquire Aliu From Knights

The Sudbury Wolves wish to announce that they have completed a trade on Saturday with the London Knights and have reacquired 19 year old veteran forward AKIM ALIU. In exchange, the Wolves sent a 4th round selection in the 2009, 6th round in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection Draft and the Wolves first round selection in the 2009 CHL Import Draft. The Wolves reacquired Aliu and the Knights first round selection in the 2009 CHL Import Draft.

The 6'3", 205lb right winger was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the second round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Aliu was traded to the Knights in 2007 in exchange for a second round selection in the OHL Priority Selection, which the Wolves used to draft forward MARCUS FOLIGNO.

A veteran of the league, Aliu will add skill, speed and toughness to the Wolves lineup.

"We are bringing Akim back to Sudbury to make us a better team" notes Wolves Head Coach and General Manager MIKE FOLIGNO. "We know Akim will help our younger players develop and we know that we can help him (Aliu) achieve his goal of playing in the NHL."

Aliu is expected to join his former and new teammates in Mississauga on Sunday, January 4, 2009 when the Wolves travel to Mississauga for a showdown with the Majors. Aliu is expected to suit up for the Wolves on Thursday when the Wolves travel to Brampton to play the Battalion.
