Captains named for OHL All-Star Classic in Sault Ste. Marie

TORONTO, ON – The Ontario Hockey League announced today the captains and alternate captains for the 2008 OHL All-Star Classic at the Steelback Centre in Sault Ste. Marie on February 5 and 6.

Dustin Jeffrey of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds will be the captain of the Western Conference while Drew Doughty of the Guelph Storm, Steven Stamkos of the Sarnia Sting and Justin Azevedo of the Kitchener Rangers will serve as alternates.

John Tavares of the Oshawa Generals is the captain of the Eastern Conference squad with Brett MacLean of the Generals, Shawn Matthias of the Belleville Bulls and Bobby Sanguinetti of the Brampton Battalion named as alternates.

The 2008 OHL All-Star Classic will feature 40 of the league's brightest stars in an Eastern Conference versus Western Conference showdown format.

It is a two-day event that includes the OHL All-Star Skills Competition and Three-on-Three Game on Tuesday February 5, along with the All-Star Luncheon and OHL All-Star Classic on Wednesday February 6.

The 2008 OHL All-Star Classic is supported by OHL partners Boston Pizza, All Weather Windows, Subway, NAPA, Yamaha and Reebok.

The game will be broadcast live on Rogers Sportsnet and is available online at www.ontariohockeyleague.com.
