The Soo Greyhounds will need to wait another week until they can slot local product Matt Caria back into the lineup.

The Ontario Hockey League nailed Caria with a five-game suspension on Wednesday for his altercation with Plymouth's Chris Terry last Friday.

The third period incident started in the Plymouth zone which then turned into a verbal battle back up ice. Caria then dropped his gloves and went after Terry, who immediately turtled.

Caria, who was written up by the game officials for directing a derogatory remark at Terry, was given a minor penalty, a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct for his actions.

Having served two games thus far, Caria is eligible to return to the lineup on January 19 when the Hounds visit the Erie Otters.

Caria was acquired on New Year's Day with an eighth round draft pick from the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors in exchange for first round pick Jordan Mayer and a first round import draft selection.

The Plymouth game was Caria's second in a Greyhound uniform.
