Hounds Attacked in Owen Sound

The Soo Greyhounds surrendered three power play goals and couldn't recover in a 4-3 loss to the Owen Sound Attack on Saturday night.

The Attack opened up a 3-1 lead that included two power play markers 32 seconds apart in the final minute of the first period.

Scott Tregunna added another power play goal in the second period for a 4-1 lead.

The Hounds would get back into the contest before the period was out as Dustin Jeffrey scored on the power play with less than a minute to go. In the third period, Payton Liske scored 2:51 in but it was as close as the Hounds would get.

Attack goaltender Russ Brownell shut down the Hounds the rest of the way inlcuding a flurry of shots in the dying seconds with the Greyhounds on the power play.

David Kuchedja scored for the Hounds in the first period and added an assist while Liske set up two goals for a three point effort. Kyle Gajewski took the loss in his second straight start in goal.

Marek Bartanus, Anton Hedman and Trevor Lewis also scored for Owen Sound.

The loss drops the Hounds record to 1-1 with a three-game road trip on tap beginning Thursday night in Windsor against the Spitfires.

In Plymouth, James Neal scored twice and Chrs Terry scored once and notched the shootout winner in a 7-6 Whalers win over the Erie Otters.

At Saginaw, Mike McLean recorded the hat trick as the Guelph Storm defeated the Spirit 4-3.

In Belleville, Kris Krolouski scored twice and set up another as the Peterborough Petes doubled up the Bulls 4-2.
