The second annual The Tournament will face off tonight at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

The Tournament was created by a dedicated group of five in January of 2005 (Trevor Zachary, Scott Booth, Derek Belanger, Lori Springall, and Sara Caughill) with the belief that it would be nice to organize a hockey tournament catering to both Male and Female Adult Hockey players in SSM.

Last year's Tournament generated much interest attracting 22 teams. This year, The Tournament will be hosting it's 2nd Annual from April 10-22 and team registration has grown to over 30 adult hockey teams comprised of 12 Women's teams in both the Competitive and Recreation Divisions, and 18 Men's teams.

Throughout the two weeks of competition, all teams will be featured at the John Rhodes Arena including an additional 12 teams from the City Men's Hockey League competing for the Open Division and Over 33 Division Mayor's Cup at the John Rhodes and the Pee Wee Arena -- for a total of over 42 adult hockey teams from the Sault and area.

The Tournament's major sponsors for 2006 are once again Brody's Bar and Grill, Labatt's, Pro Motion Power Sports, and Northside Toyota. The Tournament has also received generous support from ISOLUTIONS, Gran Festa, and All Star Trophies.

Fans are welcome throughout the two weeks with no admission fee at the John Rhodes. Fans are also invited to The Tournament Pubnight at Brody's on Thursday April 13th. For only a $5.00 admission fee, all proceeds will go towards young Brad Hyndman, who is courageously battling germinoma, the type of Cancer that Lance Armstrong was diagnosed with.

THE TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE WILL BE ADDED SHORTLY.
