A goal by Brett Jeffries at 19:49 of the second period helped the Soo Thunderbirds to another Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League victory on Friday night.
Jeffries’ goal broke a 2-2 tie as the Thunderbirds picked up win number 10 on the young season, beating the Elliot Lake Wildcats 3-2 on the road.
Jaren Bellini and Drake Pilon also scored for the Thunderbirds while goaltender Nathan Warren stopped 18 Elliot Lake shots.
Cole Hepler and Liam Blais scored for Elliot Lake while Chad Lopez picked up a pair of assists.
Wildcats goaltender Aaron MacKay stopped 27 shots.
The Thunderbirds return to action on Sunday afternoon against the Cochrane Crunch. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
In other NOJHL action on Friday, Cochrane beat Espanola 9-1, Powassan beat Kirkland Lake 5-2, the Soo (MI) Eagles beat Blind River 8-1 and Iroquois Falls beat French River 6-4.
