Soo Greyhounds forward Keigan Goetz has been handed a 12-game suspension by the Ontario Hockey League.

Soo Greyhounds forward Keigan Goetz has been handed a 12-game suspension by the Ontario Hockey League.

The suspension comes on the heels of a match penalty in the Greyhounds overtime loss on Sunday afternoon in Hamilton the 19-year-old forward received after a hit on Bulldogs forward Matt Luff.

Luff left the game following the hit and did not return to action.

Luff has not begun skating since the hit and has been suffering from “concussion-like symptoms.”

Greyhounds forward Hayden Verbeek will not be suspended following a major penalty for checking from behind, also in Sunday’s game in Hamilton.

Shortly after Goetz’s match penalty, Verbeek went hard into the boards with Hamilton’s Adam Laishram.

Greyhounds rookie forward Boris Katchouk was also suspended after a second fight, same stoppage penalty after a fight with Hamilton’s Niki Petti. The penalty comes with an automatic two-game suspension.
