A touchdown pass by Evan Bodnar to Ryan Yost midway through the third quarter was the difference for the Korah Colts on Friday night.

Bodnar hit Yost with a 40-yard pass in the third quarter to break a 20-20 tie and give the Colts an eventual 26-20 victory over the St. Mary’s Knights.

The win wasn’t without some dramatics as the Knights drove the ball in the final moments of the contest.

The Knights would drive to the Colts seven but quarterback Johnny Hammond would have his final pass of the night knocked down as time ran off the clock, allowing the Colts to hold on for the win.

The Colts were forced to battle back after falling behind 13-0 in the opening quarter thanks to Knights touchdown runs by Marcus Sachetta of six yards each. Sachetta would finish the day with 125 rushing yards on 16 carries in the game.

Korah would cut into the lead at the end of the opening quarter thanks to a 29-yard touchdown catch by Jarrett Litalien before Bodnar would even the score at 13 with a two-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Hammond would connect with Jordan Arruda on a 26-yard pass to put St. Mary’s back up by a touchdown but Bodnar would find Litalien again, this time on a nine-yard strike to send the game into the half tied at 20 and set the stage for the dramatic finish in the second half.

The Colts and Knights now have identical 2-2 records.

Senior football action continues as White Pines faces Korah on Oct. 8 in a 4:30 p.m. start at Superior Heights. The following day, Superior Heights faces St. Mary’s at Rocky DiPietro Field in a 7 p.m. start.
