Thunderbirds unbeaten run ends

Despite a 43-save performance from goaltender Nathan Warren, the Soo Thunderbirds are no longer undefeated. On Friday night the Thunderbirds fell to 5-1 after a 4-2 loss to the Cochrane Crunch in Cochrane.

On Friday night the Thunderbirds fell to 5-1 after a 4-2 loss to the Cochrane Crunch in Cochrane.

Crunch goaltender Brett Young made 43 saves to lead the Crunch to victory.

Jeremy McNeil, Dustin Cordeiro, Jay Sidhu and Hunter Atchison completed the Cochrane scoring.

Matt Pinder and Zach Senecal scored for the Thunderbirds.

Cochrane improves to 6-0 with the victory.

The Thunderbirds are back in action on Saturday in Iroquois Falls against the Eskis before wrapping up the trip on Sunday in Timmins against the Rock.

In other NOJHL action on Friday night, Blind River used a pair of second period goals to beat the Espanola Express 2-1, Elliot Lake skated to a 2-1 win over the Soo (Mich.) Eagles, Iroquois Falls doubled up the Rayside Balfour Canadians 6-3 and the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners blanked the French River Rapids 4-0.
