The girls high school basketball season is underway.
The defending city champions got into the win column early as Korah edged Superior Heights 58-57 at Korah thanks to a 25-point performance by Tori Ivey.
Shea Lynn Gioia added 11 points for Korah.
Aleeya Zack-Conneybeare had 15 points while Maggie Kirk chipped in with 13 points for Superior Heights. Kaira Hamilton also hit double digits for the Steelhawks with 12 points.
Wednesday’s other senior game saw St. Mary’s beat White Pines 22-16.
Taryn Lamorie had 12 points for the Knights while Hannah Soares added five points.
Jenna Solomon led White Pines with six points.
In junior action, Korah beat Superior Heights 45-35.
Taylor Elliott led all scorers with 26 points for Korah. Hannah Jodoin added 10 points for the Colts.
Shaynne Jones led Superior Heights with 11 points while Annie Damignani and Alicia Wellings added 10 points each for the Steelhawks.
The other junior game on Tuesday saw St. Mary’s beat White Pines 70-5.
Mackenzie Chartrand scored 14 points for the Knights.
