The Soo Greyhounds hockey staff has been rounded out with the hiring of a new athletic therapist.

Aaron Madgett has been hired by the team to take over the position left vacant when Rich Rotenberg left the team to take a position with the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies earlier this summer.

A native of Sturgeon Falls, Ont., Madgett spent the 2014-15 season with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Olds Grizzlys where he served as heat athletic therapist and equipment manager.

“Through Aaron’s knowledge and passion in working with elite student-athletes, we believe he will be a great addition to our organization,” Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis said in a prepared statement. “We look forward to working with Aaron in providing the type of environment for our players to maximize their potential and develop every day both on and off the ice.”

Madgett has previous Ontario Hockey League experience, having worked with the Barrie Colts as assistant athletic therapist.

The Greyhounds are set to open their 2015 training camp on Monday.
