Weather forces postponement of Chris Jones Memorial and Benefit

Chris Jones was a longtime and well-loved racer at Laird Raceway in the Factory Stock Division. 

Earlier this year, on June 6, Chris lost his life in a tragic work related motor vehicle accident near White River Ontario. 

To honour Chris and to help to provide some assistance to Chris’ family, Laird Raceway will be holding a special evening at the track on Friday August 28. 

$2 from each ticket sold at the pit entrance gate, as well as $2 from each Adult/senior gate ticket will be donated to the Jones family. 

In addition Laird Raceway will match any donation made by a business up to $2,500. 

During the evening race program we will also hold a special 36 lap Factory Stock feature, with special payouts in that feature of $700 for 1st, $400 for 2nd, $300 for third, and $200 for 4th to last place.

The night will also include a demo derby, twin features, and free overnight camping.

This event was announced to Laird drivers during the weekly pre-race drivers meeting  on the race night of Thursday August 13 and a few of the drivers spoke up and announced that they would be donating their evenings winnings for the Memorial Race Night to the family as well.
