As the 2015 National Hockey League Entry Draft prepared to get underway on Friday night, a Sault Ste. Marie native was involved in a major trade leading up to the event.

In the hours before the start of the first round Friday, defenceman Colin Miller was part of a package that saw the Los Angeles Kings acquire Milan Lucic from the Boston Bruins.

The Kings dealt Miller, goaltender Martin Jones and the 13th overall pick in the draft to Boston in exchange for Lucic, who had 18 goals and 44 points in 81 games for the Bruins in 2014-15.

Miller spent the season with the Kings American Hockey League affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs, where he scored 19 goals and 52 points in 70 games.

In other moves leading up to the draft, the Ottawa Senators dealt former Soo Greyhounds netminder Robin Lehner to the Buffalo Sabres on Friday.

The Senators acquired the 21st overall pick in exchange for Lehner, who posted a 9-12-3 record with a 3.02 goals against average and 0.905 save percentage in 25 games. David Legwand also goes from Ottawa to Buffalo as part of the deal.
