Lori Purnis, member of the convening committee, spent much of today prepping for the meet.

Weather permitting.

“If it’s a bit of a sprinkle, no problem. If it’s some kind of major catastrophic rain it will be held Friday,” Purnis said.

About 70 volunteers, including students and teachers, will help out on event day.

“Lots of people come out for the fun of the day,” she said.

Central Algoma Secondary School (CASS) Grade 7 and 8 students competed in their school's track and field meet, held today at Superior Heights.

The CASS field and track areas are currently not available for sport due to construction.

CASS students who advance to the elementary school city finals will compete within Zone A, to be held May 25 at Rocky DiPietro Field and Jo Forman Track.

The high school track and field city meet will be held tomorrow, also at Rocky DiPietro Field and Jo Forman Track.
