OHL Playoff Notebook: Generals off to Eastern final

The Ontario Hockey League is one step closer to having its final four.

The Oshawa Generals ended their Eastern Conference semi-final series with a 4-2 win over the Niagara IceDogs, ending the series in five games to advance to the Eastern Conference final.

Cole Cassels was in on all four Generals goals with three goals and an assist. Matt Mistele added a goal and an assist. Ken Appleby made 29 saves.

Brandon Hope made 33 saves for the IceDogs. Brian Brosnan and Ryan Mantha scored for Niagara.

The other Eastern Conference semi-final, between Barrie and North Bay, continues on Saturday night with game five. The Battalion lead the series 3-1.

The Soo Greyhounds and Erie Otters have already advanced to the Western Conference final. That series will begin on Apr. 23 in Sault Ste. Marie.
