Nolan relieved of duties with Sabres

After a 23-win season, Ted Nolan’s time with the Buffalo Sabres is over. Sabres General Manager Tim Murray made the announcement late Sunday that Nolan had been relieved of his duties as coach of the Sabres.

Sabres General Manager Tim Murray made the announcement late Sunday that Nolan had been relieved of his duties as coach of the Sabres.

The Sabres finished last in the National Hockey League standings during the 2014-15 regular season with a 23-51-8 record. In nearly two seasons with the Sabres, Nolan had a record of 40-87-17.

Assistant Coach Danny Flynn was also fired.

The contracts of assistants Bryan Trottier and Tim Coolen were up at the end of the season and the Sabres announced they would not be renewed.
