Sault Ste. Marie’s Brad Jacobs has advanced to the semi-final at the Grand Slam of Curling Player’s Championship in Toronto.

Jacobs and teammates Ryan Fry (third), E.J. Harnden (second) and Ryan Harnden (lead) picked up their third win of the tournament against Steve Laycock of Saskatoon, Sask. in draw 11.

Laycock managed to steal one in the first and one in the second to go up 2-0. Jacobs answered with a point in the third and a steal of one in the fourth to tie the game at 2-2.

After a blank in the fifth, Jacobs would steal one in the sixth and one point again in the seventh end to go up 4-2.

Jacobs missed a shot for a double in eight leaving Laycock open for the deuce that would send the game to an extra end tied at 4-4.

In the extra end Jacobs, facing 4, would draw to the button for the one point to win 5-4.

Jacobs finished the round robin with a 7-3 win over John Epping of Toronto.

Trailing 2-1 after two ends, Jacobs scored three in the third end to take the lead and added a steal of one in the fourth end to take a 5-2 lead. Jacobs added a pair in the sixth end to make the final 7-3.

Jacobs finished the round robin with a 4-1 record.
