Greyhounds trio earns all-rookie honours

The Ontario Hockey League announced the rookie of the year and all-rookie teams on Wednesday and a trio of Soo Greyhounds were recognized.

The Ontario Hockey League announced the rookie of the year and all-rookie teams on Wednesday and a trio of Soo Greyhounds were recognized.

Tim Gettinger and Gustav Bouramman were named to the first All-Rookie team while Zach Senyshyn earned second All-Rookie team honours.

Gettinger had 10 goals and 25 points in his first season with the Greyhounds after being drafted by the team last April.

Bouramman led all rookie defencemen in scoring with five goals and 44 points in 67 games.

Senyshyn scored 26 goals and 45 points in 66 games in his first full season with the Greyhounds.

Erie Otters winger Alex DeBrincat was named the OHL rookie of the year after scoring 51 goals and 104 points in 68 games. He finished seventh in league scoring and 59 points ahead of the next highest rookie scorer in the league (Senyshyn).

The all-rookie teams are selected by OHL general managers.
