Thunderbirds defenceman heading to NCAA

A second member of the Soo Thunderbirds has committed to play NCAA hockey.

Earlier this season, defenceman Owen Headrick committed to play at Lake Superior State University for the Lakers and this week the team announced that another defenceman has committed as David Radke will be heading to Colorado College to play for the Tigers.

“I am thrilled to have made my commitment to Colorado College,” Radke said in a release. “The school has a long, distinguished legacy of excellence and I’m excited to be a part of it next season. I am anxious to return to school and further my education.”

Radke, recently named a second-team all-star in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, is completing his third season with the Thunderbirds.

In 44 games during the 2014-15 NOJHL regular season, Radke scored a pair of goals and assisted on 25 others in a season that saw him play on the NOJHL entry in the Central Canada Cup in December.

In 134 career games with the Thunderbirds, Radke scored five goals and 64 points.
