Sault Ste. Marie’s Brad Jacobs is 5-0 through three days at the 2015 Tim Hortons Brier in Calgary, Alta.

Jacobs picked up two more wins on Monday in their return to the event after missing the 2014 tournament due to the Olympics.

Jacobs opened the day with a victory over Jamie Koe’s Northwest Territories team in Monday’s early draw before picking up a 7-3 win over Mark Kean and Team Ontario in the evening draw.

Against Koe, Jacobs took advantage of a pair of misses by the Northwest Territories skip en route to the win.

“The main thing was we got two breaks,” Jacobs told the Calgary Herald. “We got two misses out of Jamie Koe. To really hammer at the other team, you need to take that opportunity. You can’t let it slip away. I think we’ve done a good job of that so far.”

In other draw six matches, John Morris and Team Canada beat New Brunswick’s Jeremy Mallais 6-5; Jim Cotter used steals of one in nine and two in ten to beat Brad Gushue’s Newfoundland and Labrador rink 6-3; and Jean-Michel Menard of Quebec beat Adam Casey of Prince Edward Island 6-5 with a single point in the tenth end.

In the draw seven win over Kean, Jacobs opened the game with hammer and after blanking the opening two ends, scored three in the third end before stealing another in the fourth. A seventh end deuce to put the Jacobs rink up 6-1 sealed the victory,

In other draw seven action, Kevin Koe (Alberta) beat Menard 7-5, Steve Laycock of Saskatchewan beat Morris 8-4 and Reid Carruthers of Manitoba beat Gushue 8-5.

The Jacobs rink, which includes third Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden and lead Ryan Harnden takes their 5-0 record into day four where they will face Casey in the afternoon draw and Carruthers in the evening draw.
