Facing a daunting task, the White Pines Wolverines boys curling team came up just short of a Northern Ontario Secondary School Association (NOSSA) curling title.

The Wolverines fell in the NOSSA curling final to Sudbury’s Lockerby 9-2.

White Pines advanced to the final thanks to an 8-4 win over St. Charles of Sudbury earlier in the day in the semi-final.

White Pines needed a pair of wins over Lockerby, who was undefeated heading into the match.

Lockerby got to the final with a 3-2 win over Superior Heights on Thursday.

The other Sault Ste. Marie rep to advance to the semi-finals, the Korah Colts girls team, dropped an 8-7 decision after giving up a steal of one in the eighth end.
