High school hockey champions crowned

Thanks to a 4-0 game three win, the St. Mary’s Knights are city high school hockey champions.

Thanks to a 4-0 game three win, the St. Mary’s Knights are city high school hockey champions.

Mitchel Robinson scored a pair of goals for the Knights while Bradley Caruso got the shutout in the win, giving the Knights a sweep of the best-of-5 city final over St. Basil.

Mike Fabbro and Daniel Cicchini also scored for the Knights in the game three triumph.

St. Mary’s won game two thanks to a three-goal performance from Jason Uhl. Austin Rowe, Dallas Jollineau and Andrew Dale added a goal and an assist each for St. Mary’s. Robinson and Cody Slumskie had the other St. Mary’s goals. Erik Paradis had two assists for the Knights.

Dom Gervasi, Jonny Hammond and Josh Fisher scored for St. Basil in the game two loss.

Robinson and Jollineau had two goals and an assist each in the game one 5-2 victory by St. Mary’s.

Following game three Robinson received the Art Jarrett Memorial Award for being named the playoff Most Valuable Player.

The double-A NOSSA event is set to open on Monday at the Essar Centre with a pair of Sault Ste. Marie entries in the event. The first game is set for 9 a.m. with game two to follow at 10:40 a.m.

The second set of games on Monday, set for the John Rhodes Community Centre are scheduled for 5 p.m. and 6:40 p.m.

The final round robin games are on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. at the John Rhodes with the championship game set for 7 p.m. at the Rhodes.
