Brad Jacobs bid to return to the Tim Horton’s Brier is off to a good start.

After a pair of wins in the Northern Ontario playdowns on Wednesday, Jacobs picked up two more wins on Thursday to improve to 4-0.

Jacobs, along with third Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden and lead Ryan Harnden, picked up wins over Mike Jakubo (4-3) and Bryan Burgess (9-4 in nine ends) on Thursday.

In the third draw, steals in the fifth and sixth ends gave Jacobs a 4-1 lead over Jakubo, who would make things close with a single point in the seventh end and a steal of one in the following end. Jacobs would blank the final two ends in the win.

Against Burgess, Jacobs would fall behind 3-0 after the opening end before scoring a pair of his own in the second end. Steals of one in the third, fourth and fifth ends would give the Jacobs rink a 5-3 lead. Jacobs would seal the win by scoring three in the ninth end.

The other local rink in the event, skipped by Chris Glibota, dropped an 8-3 decision to Dylan Johnston in draw three and a 7-1 decision to Ben Mikkelsen in the fourth draw to drop to 0-4.

Jacobs returns to action on Friday when he faces Mikkelsen in draw five and Al Hackner, who also enters Friday’s action with a 4-0 record, in draw six. Glibota will face Burgess and Jeff Currie on Friday.
