Paige Banton shines at the Ontario Launch into Long Course Swim Meet

This past weekend, Head Coach Nancy Day of the Northern Storm Aquatic Club (NSAC), took nine of her best swimmers to the Ontario Launch into Long Course Swim Meet.
 
The meet ran from Friday, January 9, 2015 through to Sunday, January 11, 2015.
 
The meet was held at the Atos Markham Pan Am Parapan Am Center in Unionville, Ontario, and it was co-hosted by the Newmarket Stingrays and the Richmond Hill Aquatic Club.
 
Paige Banton, aged 12 years, achieved three club national 13 and Under times in all of her Breast stoke events.
 
Paige was awarded gold medals in both 100 m Breast and 200 m Breast.
 
Paige also received silver medals for 50 m Breast and 200 m IM, and a bronze medal in the 100 m Back.
 
Additionally, she placed 4th in 100 m Freestyle, 5th in 50 m Back, 6th in 400 m Freestyle, and 7th in 200 m Freestyle.

Desmond Wood-Anderson, aged 14 years, in the finals received a gold medal for the 100 m Butterfly, a silver medal for 100 m Back, and bronze medals for both the 100 m Freestyle and 200 m Butterfly.
 
Additionally, Desmond placed 4th in the 200 m IM, 4th in the 400 m Freestyle, 5th in the 50 m Butterfly, and 5th in the 200 m Freestyle.
 
Elisa Dumanski, aged 12 years, won a silver medal in 100 m Freestyle.
 
Elisa also received bronze medals for 50 m Freestyle, 200 m Freestyle, and 400 m Freestyle. Additionally, she came in 4th in 50 m Back, 100 m Back, 200 m Back, and 50 m Butterfly, and 7th in 200 m IM.
 
Of special note is that Elisa achieved her first ever Festival time in 50 m Freestyle.
 
Twelve-year-old Olivia Starzomski received bronze medals for both 100 m Breast and 200 m Breast.
 
Olivia also placed 4th in 50 m Breast, 8th in 200 m IM, and 8th in 400 m Freestyle.
 
Fifteen-year-old Danielle Morin placed 6th in the finals for both the 50 m Freestyle and the 100 m Freestyle, and 8th in the finals for both the 50 m Back and the 200 m Back
 
Olivia Simard, aged 13 years, placed 7th in the finals of the 50 m Breast.
 
Seventeen-year-old Spencer Bordin placed 8th in the finals of the 200 m Butterfly.
 
The combination of Spencer Bordin (17 years), Colin Bovingdon (17 years), Reilan Dupuis (15 years), and Desmond Wood-Anderson (14 years) placed 4th in the Men 15 and Over 200 m Medley Relay and 6th in the Men 15 and Over 200 m Freestyle Relay.
 
Coach Day was quoted as saying “We had many fast races , and personal best times, great swimming in the first long course of the year!”
 
Next up for NSAC is the NEOR Developmental Meet 3 in Elliot Lake this coming weekend followed by the Dave Kensit Championships held here in Sault Ste. Marie on January 30th to February 1, 2015.
