NSAC Attends Division Three Team Championships

The Northern Storm Aquatic Club (NSAC) participated in the Division Three Team Championships in Windsor, Ontario this past weekend. The meet was held at the Windsor Family Aquatic Complex and was hosted by the Windsor Aquatic Club (WAC).  The meet ran from Dec. 12-14, 2014. NSAC sent 24 swimmers who competed against 21 teams from across Ontario. The swimmers ranged in age from 7-17.

Desmond Wood-Anderson, 13, won four gold medals at the event in the 100m butterfly, 200m butterfly, 200m freestyle and 1500m freestyle. Desmond also won a silver medal in the 400 m freestyle and a bronze fin the 100m freestyle. Desmond has now achieved qualifying times for provincials in the 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle, and 100m butterfly.

Paige Banton, 12, won a gold medal for the 200m breast. This performance qualified Paige for the Club Nationals. Paige also won a silver medal for the 100m breast and she placed 5th in the 200m IM.

Olivia Starzomski, 12, received two bronze medals for her performances in the 400 m freestyle and the 800 m freestyle. Olivia placed 4th in the 200m breast and 6th in the 100m breast.

Elisa Dumanski, 12, won bronze in the 200m freestyle, placed 6th in the 400 m freestyle, placed 7th in both the 100m freestyle and the 200m back and 8th in the 50m freestyle.

Will Banton, 9, won a bronze medal for his 200m IM. Will also placed 4th in the 200m freestyle, 8th in both the 100m breast and the 100m freestyle, and 10th in the 100m IM.

Danielle Morin, 15, placed 4th in the finals for the 50m freestyle, 100m back, and 200m IM.
She placed 5th in the finals for the 100m butterfly and 7h in the finals for the 200m back.

Seventeen-year-old Spencer Bordin placed 4th in the finals for the 200m butterfly, 6th in the finals for the 100m breast and 6th in the finals for the 200m breast.

Nine-year-old Emily Simard placed 6th in both the 50m and 100m breast and 7th in the 50m butterfly.

Meagan Perlini, 13, placed 7th in the finals for the 100m freestyle, 8th in the finals for the 50m freestyle and 10th in the finals for the 100m butterfly.

Riley Reid, 12, placed 5th in the 50m freestyle.

Fifteen-year-old Reilan Dupuis placed 8th in the finals of the 100m breast and qualified for provincials based on his time.

Lilli Kelgar, 11, placed 10th in both the 100m freestyle and 200m freestyle.

Thirteen-year-old Olivia Simard placed 10th in the finals for the 100m breast.

Kaelyn Albert, 9, placed 10th in the 50m breast.

The group of Cassandra McCauley (10), Chloe Wyslocky (10), Kaelyn Albert (9), and Emily Simard (9) placed 3rd in the Girls 10-and-under free relay.

The girls 11-12 medley relay team of Elisa Dumanski, Paige Banton, Aliah Robertson (11), and Olivia Starzomski placed 3rd. The girls 11-12 free relay team composed of Elisa Dumanski, Paige Banton, Lilli Kelgar, and Olivia Starzomski placed 5th.

The girls 13-14 medley relay team made up of Elisa Dumanski, Paige Banton, Olivia Simard, and Meagan Perlini placed 4th. The same group of girls placed 5th in the Girls 13-14 free relay.

Head Coach Nancy Day stated that personal best times were achieved over 95 percent of the time during the meet and for everyone to “watch out, the Storm is getting stronger.”
