Superior Heights wins Northern Bowl title

The Superior Heights Steelhawks are Northern Bowl champs. The Steelhawks won the title on Thursday afternoon with a 26-7 win over the St. Joan of Arc Knights from Barrie in OFSAA bowl action in Hamilton.

The Steelhawks won the title on Thursday afternoon with a 26-7 win over the St. Joan of Arc Knights from Barrie in OFSAA bowl action in Hamilton.

As has been the case for much of the 2014 season, Superior Heights got a big day offensively from Jeff Auger.

Auger ran for 203 yards and three touchdowns on 32 carries in the win.

Brett MacDonald opened the scoring for the Steelhawks with a rouge 4:38 into the contest and they a 19-yard field goal early in the second quarter to make it 4-0.

Auger ran for the Steelhawks first touchdown, running the ball in from 23-yards out in the second quarter to make the score 11-0.

With the score 13-7 in the fourth quarter, Auger ran the ball in from one yard out and then scored on a three-yard run in the late stages of the quarter to seal the win for the Steelhawks.

Max Fisher ran the ball eight times for 69 yards for the Steelhawks while Cam Elgie caught three passes for 17 yards. Lau Frecha had a 23-yard catch for the Steelhawks.

Defensively Jared Coombs had five tackles for the Steelhawks.

Mitchell French caught an 18-yard pass from Cody Shaw for the lone major in the loss for the Knights.

Devin McGuirk caught a pair of passes for 40 yards in the loss while Jayden Kelly caught four passes for 27 yards.
