Bantam Storm go undefeated in Kitchener

The Sault Female Hockey Association sent their girls bantam ‘C’ rep team, the Sault Ice Storm, to the Kitchener Fall Fest. The Storm worked hard to prepare this tournament and the results prove it.

The Storm opened the tournament with a 3-1 victory over Lindsay. Jilian Dawe led the way with two goals and Tiffany Davies added another. Assists went to Katie Pateman, Emily Roberts, Mackenzee Fox and Makayla Mazzuca. Monik Pigeau was stellar between the pipes recording the win.

In game two, the Storm once again came out on top with a 6-1 win over Grand River. Jilian Dawe was stellar once again leading the team with two goals and an assist. Tiffany Davies, Madi Vernelli, Hannah Leask and Tyra Giasson all added a goal each with two assists each going to Bethany Tummillo, Vernelli, Leask, and Kaylea Furkey. Monik Pigeau took the win in net.

Game three brought on a battle of the goalies, who were both strong in the crease. Once again, Monik Pigeau came through to keep the Storm in the game with s shutout. The Storm fought hard and came up with the 1-0 victory against Keene. Jilian Dawe had the goal. Being the Storm’s third win, they secured their spot in the championship game.

Round robin action finished up in game four when the Storm met up with East Lambton Eagles. Sault Storm once again came on top with a 4-1 win. Bethany Tummillo opened the scoring with help from Jilian Dawn. Davies added two, with help from Shyanne Jones.  Amber Oja rounded out the scoring with assists from Jaylen Gagnon, Tyra Gisson and Claudie Lecours

In an intense final against Lindsay, the Sault Storm battled hard to bring the championship home, winning 3-2. In the win, Madi Vernelli started the action with a pass from Dawe, who also netted a goal in the second period. Tiffany Davies sealed the deal with help from Oja. The end-to-end action never stopped throughout the entire game with both teams playing hard. Monik Pigeau recorded her fifth-straight win for the Storm.

Next up, the Sault Storm head to Sudbury Snowflake Challenge in February.
