A pair of Sault Ste. Marie Wildcats teams saw tournament action over the weekend.
The Bantam A Lintern Wildcats were in Detroit, Mich. where they competed in the Bauer World Invite Hockey Tournament.
Playing six games over three days, the Wildcats won the tournament championship after a 4-3 overtime win against the London Devilettes (Dennis) team, ranked third in the province heading into the event.
The Wildcats advanced to the title game thanks to a 3-1 semi-final win over the Kitchener Lady Rangers.
In round robin action, the Wildcats went 3-0-1 with wins over the Michigan Ice Breakers (9-1), Rocky Mountain (Colorado) Rough Riders (7-0) and the Palmer (Alaska) Lady Pioneers (3-2). The Wildcats opened the tournament with a 2-2 tie against the London Devilettes (Solomon) team.
The Atom Wildcats team was also in action over the weekend, competing at the Sharkfest Tournament in Barrie, Ont. After going 3-0 in the round robin the Atom Wildcats dropped a 3-0 decision in the semi-final to the eventual tournament champions from North Halton.
In the round robin, the Wildcats picked up wins over Toronto Leaside (4-1), North Halton (2-0 and Etobicoke (3-0).
