The Canadian International Hockey League announced on Thursday that games this weekend involving four teams have been cancelled.

All weekend games involving the Colborne Hawks, Milton Cobras, Toronto Jr. Academy and Collingwood Ice have been cancelled and the cancellation affects the league’s local entry, the Batchewana Attack.

In a release, the CIHL said the cancellations were necessary because “all four teams mentioned have no insurance at this time to be on the ice for games or practices.”

Additionally, the league is “advising all teams and players to stay off the ice until insurance of said teams can be confirmed.”

Colborne and Milton were scheduled to face the Attack in weekend games at the Rankin Arena with Colborne in on Friday night and Milton in on Saturday.

With the dates open, the Attack will still play games on both nights, facing the Kalkaska Rhinos on Friday and the CIHL’s St. Charles Spirit on Saturday.

The Attack played a pair of exhibition games against the Rhinos, splitting games in Kalkaska in late October.
