Jacobs rink opens The Masters

The Grand Slam of Curling season kicked off on Tuesday night in Selkirk, Manitoba as The Masters tournament opened. Sault Ste. Marie’s Brad Jacobs and his team comprised of third Ryan Fry, second E.J.

The Grand Slam of Curling season kicked off on Tuesday night in Selkirk, Manitoba as The Masters tournament opened.

Sault Ste. Marie’s Brad Jacobs and his team comprised of third Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden and lead Ryan Harnden are competing in the tournament and played their opening game on Wednesday night.

The Jacobs rink dropped an 8-1 decision in four ends in their tournament opener against Team Laycock, skipped by Steve Laycock of Saskatoon.

Team Laycock scored two in the first end before stealing three in the second end to take a quick 5-0 lead and cruising to the win.

The Jacobs rink is back on the ice on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. Central Time (8:30 p.m. Eastern) when they face Team Koe, skipped by Kevin Koe.

On Friday the Jacobs rink plays a pair of games, facing Jim Cotter in draw 11 and Niklas Edin in draw 13.

The Jacobs team is competing in their fourth tournament of the season at the Masters. Team Jacobs opened the season with a tournament win at the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic before finishing third at the Point Optical Curling Classic in Saskatoon, Sask. The team finished second in the StuSells Toronto Tankard just over two weeks ago.
