Midget AA Wildcats Get Offensive at USA-Canada Cup

The Sault's Midget Wildcats finished with three wins and two losses while taking part in the USA-Canada Cup tournament this past weekend in Detroit. The tournament featured interlocking games between seven American and seven Canadian teams.

In Friday's opening action the Wildcats knocked off the Buffalo Regals 5-2 then followed up with a 4-2 loss to the Minnesota Elite. Jenna Mitchell fired a pair of goals while Lydia Murray, Darcee McCaig and Lauren Rimmer added single markers in the victory. Logan Carrick and Mack Monico had the goals in the loss.

The Sault continued round-robin action Saturday with a 10-0 win over the USA Hockey Club of Michigan before losing 5-4 to the eventual tournament champion Chicago Mission. Murray exploded for four goals and Cody Deevey had the shutout while Mitchell added a pair and Carrick, Chrissy Colizza, Taylor Nadeau, and Mackenzie Nadeau also scored in the win. Carrick, Murray, Mitchell, and Colizza supplied the offense in the loss to Chicago.

In Sunday's tournament action, featuring games between equally ranked Canadian vs. US teams, the Sault shut out the Buffalo Bisons 4-0 with Casie King firing a pair of goals and Monico and Murray adding single markers. Deevey was in net for the shutout.

Other contributing Wildcat members include Taylor Smith, Kara Neveau, Tara Dickson, Jana Headrick, Danielle Watling, and Olivia Pollari. Next action for the Sault Midgets will be the weekend of November 14-16th when they return to the Motor City for the Bauer World Hockey Invitational.
