The Soo Greyhounds received some good news on Friday afternoon.

The NHL's Edmonton Oilers announced that the Greyhounds captain is being sent back to the Ontario Hockey League.

"Through his time in exhibition and the early going of the regular season in the NHL, Darnell has shown that his game has progressed greatly over the last year through his tireless drive to improve and develop," Greyhounds Coach Sheldon Keefe said in a statement. "Together with the Oilers we will continue to work with him to take that next step to what will undoubtedly be a lengthy NHL career."

Nurse played in a pair of games for the Oilers this season. The seventh overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft was held pointless and was a -2 before being sent back.

The news comes as the Greyhounds are off to an 8-0-0-0 start to the season. After a 504 win in North Bay on Thursday night, the Greyhounds continue their three game road trip in Belleville on Saturday night against the Bulls.
