The Soo Thunderbirds have re-acquired forward Joey Miller.

The Sault Ste. Marie native was dealt to the Manitoba League's Portage Terriers by the Thunderbirds in the off-season after requesting a trade.

“I just felt it was better to come home and play in front of my family and friends,” Miller said in a release. “I want to be a leader and role model to the younger guys on the club and show them how to handle themselves at the Jr. A level.”

Miller scored 20 goals and 55 points in 56 games with the Thunderbirds during the 2013-14 Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League season before adding three goals and six points in 15 playoff games.

In 98 career games with the Thunderbirds, Miller has scored 26 goals and 77 points.

The local forward is the second player acquired by the Thunderbirds of late. The team acquired forward Joey Ogden from the Saskatchewan League’s Estevan Bruins earlier this week.
