Hockey Notebook: Sicoly signs with Storm

Soo Thunderbirds forward Nic Sicoly has signed with the Guelph Storm.

Soo Thunderbirds forward Nic Sicoly has signed with the Guelph Storm.

Sicoly, who has three goals and five points in three games with the Thunderbirds this season, was selected by the Storm in the fourth round of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection after spending the 2013-14 season with the Toronto Marlboros.

With Toronto last season, Sicoly scored 14 goals and 33 points.

After Nicolas’ strong training camp, signing him became a priority for the organization,” Storm General Manager Mike Kelly said in a release. “We firmly believe that he is going to be a dynamic and productive player in our league and he plays the up-temp game favoured by coach Scott Walker.”

Kelly expects Sicoly to play a “significant role” in the future of the Storm.

“Having him play this year in his hometown is a great opportunity for him to develop and be prepared for a significant role with the 2015-16 edition of the Storm,” Kelly said.
