SAULT STE. MARIE - In their second meeting of the season against the York Lions, the Lions once again came out on top, winning all four games in their double header against the Algoma Thunderbirds.

In the women's action, the women recuperated after a tough loss to the Lions yesterday, 16-0. The women were more aggressive in attacking the ball, preventing York from finding the net.

The women tightened their formation, and penetrated York's zone gaining more possession of the play.

York found the net at the 35th minute, gaining the lead, 1-0. A late goal in the second gave York the advantage going into the second half, 2-0. In the second, York came out strong, earning two goals in five minutes, sealing the game in favour of the road team.

York continued to pull away from the Thunderbirds, winning 12-0, their fourth consecutive win of the season. Colleen Beesley had four goals in the Lion's winning effort.

"We're steadily improving," said women's Head Coach Sam Medaglia at the close of Sunday's game. "We have some good signs, and lots of positive attitude still. We're not giving up."

In the men's game, York scored early, setting the pace for their second game in their doubleheader against the Lions.

Algoma battled hard, but were unable to stop the fast break of York's Jonathan Lao at minute 33, bringing York's lead to 2-0.

By the close of the first half, Algoma trailed 5-0.

Algoma retaliated in the second getting physical, earning three fouls, but was still no match for the experienced York team.

The Lions won 9-0. Joey Chicchilio led York with three goals.

The Thunderbirds continue their action this upcoming weekend against the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday and Sunday at Superior Heights.
