Greyhounds exchange forwards with Barrie

Friday, December 20, 2013   by: Brad Coccimiglio

The Soo Greyhounds have acquired forward Dylan Corson from the Barrie Colts.

In exchange, the Greyhounds sent rookie forward Nick Pastorious and a 15th round draft pick (2014) to the Colts.

“The addition of Dylan to our program today is a transaction done to bolster the depth of our forward group and give our coaching staff another player who shows the ability to play versus very solid quality of competition and be an effective penalty killer,” Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Dubas said in a release. “We also like the fact that Dylan has shown the ability to produce points at even strength, and feel that he has the ability to not only add the above qualities but also chip in offensively with our hockey club.”

Pastorious was at home awaiting a trade by the Greyhounds after leaving the team late last week. The trade request was made roughly three weeks ago by Pastorious’ agent Darcy Tucker.

Pastorious had a goal in 16 games this season with the Greyhounds. The 17-year-old forward also suited up in six games for the Greyhounds last season though he didn’t register a point.

Corson is in his fourth OHL season, having split time between the Colts and Belleville Bulls, where he started his career in 2010. The Colts had acquired Corson from the Bulls in June 2012 in exchange for a third round pick.

The son of former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Shayne Corson, Dylan had three goals and 13 points in 32 games this season with the Colts. The veteran forward has eight goals and 35 points in 216 career OHL games.

Corson suited up in 21 playoff games last season as the Colts made it to the OHL final.
