Greyhounds ink prospect

Thursday, December 19, 2013   by: Brad Coccimiglio

The Soo Greyhounds have signed 2013 third round pick Zachary Senyshyn.

The Greyhounds announced the signing on Thursday afternoon.

The 16-year-old has 12 goals in 33 games with the Smiths Falls Bears of the Central Canadian League.

“Zachary has developed extremely well under the watchful eye of the Smiths Falls Bears since being drafted by our club last April. We would like to than Hugh Craig, Mark Grady and the entire Bears staff for their work with Zachary to date and their understanding in allowing him to join our Club over the next few weeks,” Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Dubas said in a release. “We would also like to recognize the work of Gregg Kennedy and his staff with the Ottawa Jr. Senators AAA program, where Zachary played during his OHL Priority Selection Season.”

Senyshyn will join the Greyhounds for their road trip this weekend, which opens up tonight in Guelph against the Storm.

“Committing to the Greyhounds is a huge honor, they have welcomed me to the team and treated me great during my trips with them and during my time in Ottawa with Smiths Falls,” Senyshyn said. “Coming to the Greyhounds and playing in the OHL has always been a dream of mine. I’m very excited for my future with this terrific organization.”
