The final week of action before Christmas in the Ontario Hockey League opened up with three games on Wednesday night.
In Ottawa, Brett Gustavsen had the shootout winner as the Ottawa 67’s beat the Peterborough Petes 3-2. Ottawa goaltender Philippe Trudeau made 37 saves in the game and stopped four of five Petes shooters in the shootout. Ryan Van Stralen and Tyler Hill scored for Ottawa in regulation time. Petes goaltender Michael Giugovaz stopped 31 shots while Michael Clarke and Connor Boland scored for Peterborough.
In Owen Sound, Jeff King scored at 4:46 of overtime to lift the Sarnia Sting to a 3-2 win over the Owen Sound Attack. Sting goaltender Taylor Dupuis stopped 38 shots in the win while Nickolas Latta had a goal and two assists. Nikolay Goldobin also had a goal and two assists for Sarnia. Gilbert Gabor scored both goals for Owen Sound while Brandon Hope stopped 30 shots in the loss.
In Belleville, Cameron Brace scored a pair of goals to lead the Belleville Bulls to a 4-1 win over the Plymouth Whalers. Bulls goaltender Charlie Graham stopped 33 shots in the win while Remi Elie chipped in with a goal and an assist. Aaron Berisha had the other Belleville goal. Mathieu Henderson had the lone goal for the Whalers in the loss.
