Gameday Preview: Greyhounds wrap up season series with BullsFriday, October 25, 2013 by: Brad Coccimiglio
The Soo Greyhounds and Belleville Bulls meet for the second and final time on Friday night at the Essar Centre in Ontario Hockey League action at the Essar Centre.
The game is the second of a three-game homestand for the Greyhounds while the Bulls continue a stretch of five-straight road games for the Bulls, which opened last weekend with losses to Erie and Niagara.
The Bulls will get a boost in their lineup as overage forward Scott Simmonds is expected to return to the lineup tonight. Simmonds missed action last weekend due to injury.
The Bulls enter Friday with a record of 2-8-1-1, which includes a 4-0 loss to the Greyhounds on Oct. 5. That night, Greyhounds goaltender Brandon Halverson stopped 32 saves for the shutout in his first OHL start.
Halverson is expected to get the start again tonight for the Greyhounds, who enter the game having won five of six and carry a record of 9-1-0-1. Tonight will be Halverson’s third start of the season. He last saw action last weekend on the Greyhounds three-game road trip. Halverson picked up the win as the Greyhounds beat the Peterborough Petes 9-7.
The Greyhounds opened their current homestand with an 8-3 win over the Sarnia Sting on Wednesday night at the Essar Centre. Michael Bunting had three goals and an assist in the win.
